Both were different. It took 14 years during the entire civil war to oust Assad, which was the main goal in the first place, while Sheikh Hasina was ousted literally two months after protests began. The reason why Assad survived for so long was because he had Russia and Iran, while India could barely do anything when Hasina's power was on the brink of collapse as they probably didn't want to invoke war in a country literally right next door, otherwise this would cause a gigantic geopolitical and regional impact.

Yunus and IG will continue to state elections will be held between Dec and Jun. Between the political pressure and the statement from CoAS, the reality is the election will be held in December.

Yunus won’t hold elections till he has reformed Bangladesh back to Least Developed Country status.   Before long, people will be begging Hasina to come back.

I want to say, currently our Armies have far more reputation both nationality and internationally (UN peacekeeping) than Yunus. It was kinda equal when Yunus took over, but he has only himself to blame after all the controversy from women, Jamaat, Hindu, Bal ban, NCP favoritism to US army.


It was the better idea to let Hasina go for armies. It may not sound like it but had Hasina died that day, it had the potential of the chaos after Mujib's death. Mujib also was very unpopular at that time, but ended up being martyr after death. As for arresting and eventually death penalty of Hasina (as ICT who are in charge of July justice is controversial internationally) would have the same effect or at worst a counter revolution. I am just trying to defend the armies here.

Yesterday every single political party in the country unanimously decided to Awami League under anti terrorism laws.

And before anyone says an unelected govt doesn’t have the mandate to do that I'll say one thing. It doesn’t matter when all 50+ parties decided to ban them. Because when the time comes one these parties will form the govt and will ban them either way.

Another disaster incoming in Bangladesh. 
First if BNP win students leaders will create civil war like situation if they win BNP will create drama. Bangladesh is unstable. Rise of extremist groups are destroying the future of Bangladesh. An unelected regime, brought to power as the facade of a military dictatorship, bans the party that won multiple straight elections. And these people are going to lecture us on democracy.

As much as I disagree with it, we shouldn't be passing a judgement on how to run their country. Bangladesh is going through turbulent times, there'll be emotional decisions. Let them take it. It is clear that Yunus is driven by a certain ideology. India should analyse on how to best take this forward. If Bangladesh goes Islamism way, we can only prepare for it.
